So, I started off with this blog almost hoping to be able to be able to start up a bit of a foodie blog… So far it’s been really disappointing!
Although we’re still taking plenty of photos of the food that we eat, there’s only been a couple of occasions where we have actually been impressed with the food (one that particularly stands out was the delicious ITALIAN food we had in Fort Kochi, India!!)
I really hope it’s not just our westernised tastes and western ideas of what food should taste like that’s influencing this but everything just tastes bland. Even the ‘spicy’ food, although it requires you to have bright red lips from the heat doesn’t actually have much flavour apart from ‘hot’ – I’m usually quite good at picking out the flavours used in dishes but here in China especially, I’ve been lost, apart from the overpowering perfume of coriander on a few dishes (if it’s a case of love or hate for coriander, I’m definitely a hater!)
I’m not giving up the search but if anyone has been to anywhere on our “Where are we heading?” page, PLEASE leave a comment if you know of anything we should try, places to go….
I am not surprised about Japan, a lot of food out there is more about the texture than the taste!
Good luck in your quest of good food, hopefully the other elements of travelling haven’t been so bland!!
Yeah, the sushi and curry in Japan certainly made up for the lack of taste in the other food. And Japan’s just the best place ever so I’ll forgive it for anything! Xx
